भारत में, पंजाबी भारत की 22 अनुसूचित भाषा में से एक ह। इ भारत की पंजाब राज्य क पहिला आधिकारिक भाषा ह। पंजाबी के उर्दू, हरियाणवी के साथ दिल्ली में दूसरी आधिकारिक दर्जा प्राप्त बा।
पाकिस्तान में कौनो क्षेत्रीय जातीय भाषा के राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर आधिकारिक भाषा क दर्जा नइखे मिलल, और ए तरह से एइजा पंजाबी राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर आधिकारिक भाषा नाहीं ह, भले ही इ उर्दू की बाद पाकिस्तान में सबसे अधिक बोलल जाए वाली भाषा ह। तबो इ भाषा पंजाब, [[पाकिस्तान]] क आधिकारिक भाषा ह, जवन की इस्लामाबाद राजधानी क्षेत्र क सबसे अधिक आबादी वाला प्रांत ह।
